Lotus 97 Renault Turbo F1 (1985)
Renault V6 turbo engine, 1492cc and 810cv
With his arrival at Lotus, he no longer had anything to prove, as he was recognized as one of the best drivers on the grid. At last he had a car with a real chance of winning a victory and it was not long in coming, in the second race in Estoril, Portugal.
There he took his first pole position and on Sunday, in a race passed through the water, he gave a whole recital by doubling all the participants except one, Alboreto, who he led by more than a minute. This is the racing car that we show in scale, the winner of the Portuguese GP on his rain tires.
The rest of the season was both joys and disappointments, scoring several poles and another magnificent victory at Spa, but the Lotus forced him to withdraw seven times. He had to settle for finishing fourth in the world championship, which went to who soon after would become his greatest rival, Alain Prost.
