Autobello 2015, exceptional machines

Last Wednesday, June 24, the eighth edition of autobello, a party dedicated to the exclusive automobile in all its variants: Current, youngtimers and classics. A day of recreation for the senses of all those who think that these types of machines are used for something more than simply moving from one place to another.

What exactly is Autobello?

According to his Official Site, autobello is an event that arises at the initiative of a banker, a group of enthusiasts and a journalist - the director of the magazine Because, Emilio Olivares-, in which they bring together a select group of owners and collectors of exceptional cars and watches.

The appointment takes place once a year in an environment of the same level, such as the restaurant Monica's House in Aravaca, in whose three hectares of carefully tended gardens and magnificent grassy meadows the vehicles are ordered -this year about 500-, of which a selection later participates in an elegance contest in which they compete in different categories. After the awards ceremony, all attendees are invited to a dinner with live music; this last evening was enlivened by the pop group The Union…

In addition to Madrid, Autobello is also organized in Barcelona, since 2011; in Valencia, since 2013, and in Marbella, where it will premiere on July 30.

Although the protagonists of these meetings it's cars and watches, As stated in that very recurring phrase, money calls money, so little by little other types of activities such as nautical or art have been incorporated into the party, as well as prestigious firms that show their wine catalogs, jewelry, fashion and other sumptuous items.

Dream cars to mansalva

But since we are really interested in cars, we will take the bull by the horns. And what a bull! Oh my! I can assure anyone who really likes cars that their legs will shake when they are next to such devices. It is currently impossible to see in Spain such a number of exceptional cars per square meter at any other meeting.

Cars of all kinds come -as long as they meet the requirement that we told you at the beginning; supercars that we know exist from having seen them in specialized magazines; luxurious representative sedans that we will hardly find parked in the parking lot of a shopping center; competition vehicles and, the ones we like the most, the classics.

Of the first, of the sports, is one of the most ... At a given moment it can be even overwhelming to feel surrounded by so many wonders without knowing which of them to fix your gaze on or which to point with the camera lens. It is something like releasing a Sioux armed with a bow and arrows in the middle of a herd of bison.

Ferraris had for a tube, all models in the current range and from a few years ago; only one copy of La Ferrari was missed. But the previous supercars of the brand were all, from an Enzo to an F50, through an F40 or a 288 GTO. There were also excellent classic units, such as a Testarossa, a stunning yellow Daytona, a BB512, or a 365 GT 2 + 2.

The bull's signature, Lamborghini, also had a good representation: Aventador, Huracán, Murcielago ... But the one that attracted the most attention, the car that almost all of us have had pinned to the wall of our bedroom, was a spectacular yellow Countach presented by the Torre Loizaga Museum.

Pegaso, also present in Autobello

Cars made by Mercedes Benz we were able to discover some gems, like a mythical X gull wings with a little brother in a roadster body; On the other hand, although they are modern, it is obligatory to name some models that carry the classic label from the day of their birth, such as an SLS AMG Black Series and a Mercedes McLaren SLR Stirling Moss Edition. A great luxury to have these wonders in our country.

Alfa Romeo there were several, but above the rest, one particular unit stood out, a 6 2500C 1948 SS Cabriolet Pininfarina. It is one of the street models with which the Milanese firm was resurrected from its ashes after World War II.

In an event of this type they could not miss copies of the British brand Aston Martin. You could see quite current models, such as DB7 or DBS, but there was a classic one that caught our attention: a beautiful 2 DB1952 Convertible in an elegant ivory color.

BMW also featured a few standout cars, such as a rare and precious red Z8 roadster, an impressive 501 saloon known as 'the baroque angel' and several of its most iconic coupes. a 2000 CS, a 3.0 CSi and a 635CSi.

Our national pride was filled with the presence of an excellent Pegasus Z102 Panoramic Touring Berlineta from 1956 -which was awarded in the competition- and some Hispanic Swiss: A 16HP (Type 30) from 1915, a T49 Limousine from 1925 with bodywork by Juan Forcada and an impressive HS26 Torpedo Felber from 1934, one of those made in Paris by Ballot, precisely the champion of the elegance contest held at the Classic Auto in Madrid last winter.

Also present were two veteran units that we showed you recently in the Toledo Elegance Contest, a 100 Jaguar SS 1936 and a 135 Delahaye 38M Cabriolet Chapron presented by the Pueche family.

Other units found and noteworthy are the 1927 Renault Type KZ recently restored by the Cars 1247 company and the 11 Fiat 1935CV licensed Simca based on the Italian 518 Ardita model.

Many cars, but few entrances

So far a small summary of what could be seen. There was more, much more, since we have not talked about Porsche, or Rolls Royce, or Bentley, or Jaguar, or other premium brands that were present ... but at some point you have to stop. We have simply told you what for various reasons aroused our curiosity in this car orgy.

If you found the story interesting, next year we will try to tell you again; But if you liked it so much that you want to attend personally, know that you will not have it easy, because you will have to own a dream car and / or watch and sign up for one of the contests or have very good contacts that will get you one of the desired invitations delivered dropper by sponsoring firms. It's what it takes to be able to rub shoulders with the jet set as well as, of course, be dressed for the occasion.
