From Argentina to Alaska in a 600

When Santiago Uranga is asked how such an idea came about, it is impressive to know the funny anecdote that gave rise to the trip: “I thought the car was wrong with papers, but I wanted to go to Uruguay. Then the authorities told me: "You can go to Alaska with this one." "Why not?" I asked myself, and I decided to get there with the Fiat 600 ".

So Uranga's light bulb was lit and he decided to make the journey starting from Argentina and ending in Alaska. After thinking about the matter, he called his friend Juan Manuel Rizzatti and asked him to be his co-pilot.

"You made me happy in the morning", He answered, and that was how, soon, on January 14, the great adventure of traveling 22.000 thousand kilometers of the American continent began aboard a 600 Fiat 1964 nicknamed “Brasita”.

That day, the two fans set out from the Rosario Flag Monument towards the uncertain, but with a great objective: raise awareness about the environment and promote reforestation.

“We are sowing native seeds with a special Japanese technique in each region and in each country that we visit. We try to raise awareness of the need to protect the environment ”, Rizzatti account. "We sow the seeds using a special technique called the Clay Pump, an experiment developed by the researcher Masanobu Fukuoka and which can transform arid lands into fertile ones."

Both declare themselves voyagers where the everyday is resolved every day; they are light of luggage and with more intuition than maps.

In addition to the seeds, they carry fishing rods, a guitar and a harmonica, with which Juan expresses his taste for music and raises some money. Also, with a camera, which Santiago uses to immortalize images that he later sells. From time to time they receive the contribution of a classic club or a Fiat agency ...

They are not sure how long it will take to reach the goal, they think maybe a year. They go between 60 and 90 kilometers per hour, during the day and at 11 cut.

The return, by car, plane or on foot will have as a finishing touch an act at the Monument to the flag, the same one that almost 11 months ago saw them leave. They are currently in Mexico, which makes us think that it may take a little longer than expected to complete the tour.

Be that as it may, after settling accounts with this challenge they plan to edit a book, "Alaska, here we go", that collects everything lived in these tens of thousands of kilometers of travel. For now, we encourage you to follow them on your blog or in your profile Facebook.
