Last weekend was celebrated the Retroclassical Bilbao 2024 The 13th edition of the fair has closed its doors as a complete success. The show has made a significant leap in quality, especially visible in the exhibition section, with more and better exhibits. This has been rewarded by the public, with a massive attendance, estimated at 35.000 visitors, according to the organizer Eventos Motor.
Over the three days of the event, the exhibition offered a complete tour of the history of the automobile through different thematic exhibitions. Particularly striking was the dedicated to the memory of Marcello gandini, which included the presence of a Lamborghini Countach, Alfa Romeo Montréal, Citroen BX and even Renault Magnum truck among others.
In addition, there was a tribute to the centenary of the first ascent of Mount Gorbea, 90 years after the Citroen Traction Avant and the 40 years that he celebrates Opel Cadet E. Even in the club area Several cars from the former GDR could be enjoyed as a Wartburg, courtesy of the Classic Car Club of the East. Not to mention the exhibitions of Bultaco and Kawasaki, the latter by PlentziaClassic.
Everyone found cars and motorcycles that interested them, including a Bentley 1935 Derby bodied by Freestone & WebbTwo SEAT bodied by Greenhouse or a Wasp Merino Sidecar of which only seven units were supposedly made. As we can see, there was something for everyone.
MORE THAN 1.500 CARS IN THE CLASSIC PARKING LOT
Once again, the parking reserved for classic cars was another of the event's attractions. The Retroclásica Bilbao 2024 demonstrated its enormous power of attraction, as Up to 1.500 vehicles occupied this space during the weekend. In addition, the rallies held by Club Z Norte, Renault Euskadi, Mazda MX-5, American vehicles or VolvoIt is an ideal place to share and learn about other fans' car stories.
It should be noted that classic car parking is beginning to reflect the change of trend in the world of collecting and its hobby. Most of the cars are from the 80s and 90s, which is already a clear generational change. There is less and less interest in older vehicles, let alone pre-war ones. Good or not, above all we can say that it is the law of life.
At Motor Events they are clear about it and, for that reason, they even set up a parking lot for pre-classics on Saturday. Obviously, it was filled with BMW M3 or Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution, models that are particularly attractive to younger fans.
A COMPLETE PROGRAM
Of course, the spare parts and retro objects area was once again a meeting point for fans looking for parts for their restoration projects. Likewise, the Section for the sale and purchase of vehicles between individuals reaffirmed its relevance, becoming a dynamic space for the exchange of authentic gems on wheels.
Another novelty of this edition was the Motor Event Forum, which became the epicenter of activities such as presentations, debates and lectures, in addition to the launch of key initiatives. Among them, the first delivery of the Presence of the automobile at the Bilbao Trade Fair, leadered by Miguel Martin Zurimendi, with the support of BEC and the Provincial Council of Bizkaia. A nice initiative that will continue in the next two editions.
In conclusion, The Bilbao 2024 Retroclásica has raised the bar for quality, reaffirming its position in the calendar of classic car shows. In addition, it has laid the foundations for continued growth in a future that promises to be bright.
