Pallí-Buscaons win the Costa Brava Historic Rally

The Girona team made up of Lluís Pallí and Guillem Buscaons, aboard a 1.3 Innocenti Mini Cooper 1973, has achieved absolute victory in the XI Rally Costa Brava Historic, which ended at dawn this Sunday in Lloret de Mar after 1.400 km of route of which about 600 have been regular, distributed in 40 sections.

An XI Rally Costa Brava Històric, which was already long and hard, experienced a difficult and exhausting last night for the survivors, who had already traveled more than 1.000 km during the previous three days. Three sections had to be canceled due to landslides, but the four that could be played saw a different winner each.

The heads-up match between Pallí-Buscaons (Mini), Víctor Sagi-Víctor Sagi jr. (Porsche) and Tòfol Castañer-Tommy Castañer (Porsche), has been the keynote of the last day, Although the unexpected fourth stage has taken its toll on these last two teams, finally occupying the last two podium places Alex Rimbau-Jordi Peradalta (Seat 127, 1974) and Xavier Faixedas-Joan Jordan (Seat 124-1800, 1978).

A contested test from the first section

The first stage was dominated by Mariano Molina-Sergi Giralt (VW Scirocco), but they broke the head gasket in the second stage and retired. At the end of it, the leadership was held by Tòfol and Tommy Castañer (Porsche 911 S), while the third finished with Víctor Sagi-Víctor Sagi jr (Porsche 911 S) in the lead.

The fourth stage, which started from the Port Olímpic of Barcelona and whose itinerary the pilots met in the same neutralization, lived a curiously relentless fight with other pilots setting the best scores, such as Vigué-Casas (R5 Turbo), Lareppe-Lieven ( Opel) and Renú-Bergel (BMW), who won three of the four stages contested, while Pallí-Buscaons (Mini) prevailed in the last, which gave them a tight but solid and undoubtedly deserved victory.

There has been so much equality at the head, that any little slip could change everything at any time, seeing the victory the most regular team in the front positions. It is important to note that four teams made up of two motorcycles have managed to finish this tough test, the best being Jordi Martí-Xavier Tibau (Honda Africa Twin 650), who also qualified in 27th overall position.
