Last Tuesday we were at the Hoyo de Manzanares Rally which took place mainly in the Military Base of Battleships of «El Goloso», on the Colmenar road in Madrid. The reception from the military was very warm, although it was a strictly civil event.
Despite being a strange day outside the weekend routines, the truth is that around 40 classics of all styles and colors attended. Organized the Veteran Car Club of Spain, but there were not only prewar machines there but also a good assortment of Americans, military and even the occasional pre-classic.
Among the participants, a Allard, English racing car with a Cadillac engine - that is, a hybrid - that was quite successful on the circuits back in the late 40s and early 50s. It was also driven by two women, an unusual sight that we were glad to see.

I also wouldn't want to go without mentioning the 1916 Cadillac by Enrique Gómez Erustes, an imposing roadster who does not miss the opportunity to go out for a walk, thus demonstrating that veterans are not motorized wagons, as some think, but perfectly operational cars (or almost!). You should have seen it on the beautiful road to Hoyo de Manzanares ...
And is that after visiting the museum at the base of El Goloso and -attention- an exhibition of old tanks at full speed, the Rally headed to Hoyo de Manzares to enjoy a meal with friends.
