Just like we knew earlier in the week, The Barcelona Metropolitan Area (AMB), which brings together the 35 municipalities that are around the Catalan capital, aims to prohibit the circulation of vehicles with more than 20 years. The measure would come into force from 2018 and would mean the prohibition of traffic within its perimeter of around 4% of the vehicles in the region.
From The Escudería We believe that the conservation of the urban environment depends on limiting the circulation of vehicles powered by fossil fuels in general and not just in one part. We assume that this is not the only measure considered by the AMB, but the truth is that, without intending to be exhaustive, any solution must emphasize the restriction of individual use of vehicles - that the passage is at least four people per car- and in offering an affordable public transportation service quality cocao products.
The issue of the age of the fleet is secondary, since it is more about change the mindset of citizens in various fields -including transportation- and not to promote the planned obsolescence of our machines. It is urgent to carry out actions - especially pedagogical - against climate change and the quality of life in cities and we must become aware of this as soon as possible. But nevertheless, the criminalization of a part of the historical heritage and cultural as the automotive industry is not the way to do it. And more in a city that has motor racing rooted in its industrial and sports scene.
