Everything ready for the 6 Hours of Barcelona, ​​which are held on May 20 and 21

The event, heir to the Spirit of Montjuïc, will serve as a tribute to the years in which endurance tests were held at the Circuit de Montjuïc.

We already know the last details of the 6 Hours from Barcelona, which will be held on May 20 and 21 at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. It is an event that, as we already told you, gathers all the experience of the Spirit of Montjuïc. This new format, combines historic motorsport with modern, without losing the full range of activities designed to enjoy with the whole family.

6 Hours Barcelona 2023

The main role of the festival will be for the endurance races that They were held on the Magic Mountain circuit between 1967 and 1973. To do this, Escudería Targa Iberia has had the collaboration of Nou Onze and JAS Info Service in order to set up a complete exhibition that will be located in boxes 1, 2 and 3.

Fans will be able to enjoy the six original posters of the competitions of 6 Hours (1967 and 1968), 12 hours (1969), 1.000 km (1971) and 400 km (1972 and 1973). There will also be a complete selection of objects such as pilot overalls, helmets, medals, pennants, original programs, accreditations, documentation and a long etcetera. The idea is that visitors can get to know those races in depth.

To highlight the spectacular gallery composed of 90 photographs of those six tests. With them, not only the races and the participating cars will be remembered, but also the circuit, the atmosphere or the work in the pit area. The images are part of the JAS file.

PROTAGONIST OF FOUR WHEELS

In the exhibition of the 6 Hours of Barcelona, ​​there will be two doors that will be identified by two of the vehicles that won those races. The first of these will be Ford GT40 with which “Paco” Godia and Brian Muir won the 6 Barcelona 1968 Hours. The second, the Porsche 911S used by Juan Fernández and Javier de Vilar to prevail in the 1967 edition. The GT40 will even work as a pace car in the run-up to the main race.

Inside the boxes, we will find a Porsche 911R, who participated in the 12 Hours of Barcelona in 1969 with Salvador Cañellas and Jordi Pla. Also, there will be another 911 which finished sixth driven by José María Fernández and Javier Juncadella in the 6 Hours of Barcelona in 1968.

On Friday 19, the day before the event, there will be an act in which the book dedicated to the aforementioned Porsche 911R. It is written by the prestigious journalist Valenti Fradera and edited by Nou onze. Pilots such as Salvador Cañellas, Eugenio Baturone or José María Fernández, among others, will be present.

PROGRAM OF THE 6 HOURS OF BARCELONA

The queen competition of the weekend, called Paco Godia Trophy, will be the 6-hour test in which GT, Touring Cars and Sports cars that competed until 1990 will participate. There will be a maximum of four drivers per car and it will be held between the 12 and 18 hours on Sunday 21.

Furthermore, the F1 Academy will make its debut at the 6 Hours of Barcelona. This is an ambitious project launched in 2023 by Formula 1 Management as a training and promotion platform for female pilots. There are 15 participants distributed among 5 teams, two of them Spanish: Nerea Martí and Marta García. Three races will be held throughout the weekend.

Two sleeves of the Formula Regional European Championship, with the participation of the Spanish Lorenzo Fluxa. Finally, the Racer Cup will feature around twenty MINI units that will take part in three races.

A PADDOCK DESIGNED FOR EVERYONE

The paddock will once again have the usual great atmosphere, especially this year when there are no more works on the circuit and it returns to its normal location. SEAT will celebrate various anniversaries, the most notable being the SEAT 1400, which began production 70 years ago. In the SEAT Históricos tent, the older ones will be able to enjoy the 1:1 scale models and the younger ones the pedal cars.

The area with exhibitions of classics, automobilia products, flea market and else. And, of course, there will be live music and dancing, an 80s zone, bumper cars, a radio control track, children's activities, face painting and much more. Tickets are on sale on the website of the Spirit of Montjuïc in different modalities and prices.
