Results of the 2nd FIVA Survey now available

Last March the International Federation of Antique Vehicles -FIVA- announced the launch of its second research on the socio-economic impact of the old vehicle in Europe. It was a macro-survey in which the collaboration of all the continental fans was requested and thanks to which the collected data would later be processed and important conclusions would be drawn.

Thus, FIVA, through the different national delegations -as is the case of the Spanish FEVA-, made the questionnaires available to owners of old vehicles, amateur clubs and companies in the sector from fifteen countries, including Spain. which would allow the current importance of the actors involved in the European love for classic vehicles to be properly assessed.

At the beginning of the month FEVA has released the first battery of results of this study, compiled in a report of no more and no less than 220 pages and a semblance of unsurpassed professionalism. We invite our readers to consult it clicking here, not without first letting them know that, for now, it is only in English. For our part, we will read it carefully so that in a few days we will try to present its main conclusions, especially the national ones.

The data collected is the fuel that FIVA needs to continue its work in favor of the old vehicle in Brussels; FEVA also needs them, because it is our interlocutor with the national authorities, and the truth is that both organizations will have a good arsenal of arguments in the performance of their functions. There are a significant number of European Union regulations in the pipeline that will create new challenges, especially for the circulation of historic vehicles on public roads.

The first FIVA investigation It was carried out in 2004/2005 and its report has been extremely useful to know the profile of amateurs and professionals -needs, concerns, preferences, among others- and to prove the cultural, social and economic significance of the European movement in favor of the old vehicle.

Since then, this report has passed through the hands of thousands of people responsible for making the political decisions that affect our precious vintage vehicles at all levels, from the local to the supranational, thus becoming the fundamental tool at our disposal to its defense and the maintenance of its free movement in cities and highways around the world. We expect no less from this second study.
