2nd Solidarity Meeting of Classic Vehicles

[dropcap] E [/ dropcap] Last Sunday, January XNUMX, the 2nd Solidarity Meeting of Classics and historical sites in the Matadero area, in the Arganzuela district of Madrid. The organization came from the hand of the Club of friends of Renault 4/4 and the Veteran Car Club of Spain, who again joined forces to gather a good amount of classic vehicles in order to collect food for the distribution bank.

The way to follow

This solidarity initiative, at the moment on an annual basis, is by no means an isolated event in our country, because fortunately there are many cases in which the world of classics is strongly involved in helping those most in need, as in the monthly concentrations of Navalcarnero and Torrejón de Ardoz, or the annual one of Venturada, to give some examples within the Community of Madrid, which is what a server knows best, but I know that it can be extrapolated to all corners of our geography. Therefore, fans of this type of car, we can be very proud of our work by attending these events. Keep going so.

New and successful location

The meeting was not exactly in the same place as the first edition. As we already told you at the time, it took place around the cultural center of the Clock House, this year it was a few meters away, on a paved esplanade very close to the glass palace greenhouse, a much more successful place for its comfort when parking, and because of its spaciousness for all those who moved around on foot to contemplate these old pots.

Even though the weather threatened rain - in fact a little bit of water fell at first - it was a pretty "nice" day to be the month of January, something cool and a little cloudy, but with a magnificent light to contemplate the cars and take photos without those horrible glare and reflections.

There were many who decided to use the first Sunday of the year to take out their vehicles to stretch the nuts, I could not say if there was more or less participation than in 2015, it is a data difficult to confirm since the cars are located in a different area, much more extensive and clear.

2nd Solidarity Meeting of Classics: Spectacular

The entrance through which the attendees entered, as last year, was through Paseo de la Chopera nº 6. In front of the Casa del Reloj building we find several of the oldest units, a Citroen 11 Cabriolet from 1937 , a '41 Chevrolet, two old Fords, a '29 A and a '33 B, and a 170 Mercedes 1938 Cabrio.

Next, along the promenade that communicated with the main parking lot, next to the greenhouse, some of the cars were exposed most admired and admired: a magnificent Aston Martin 1.5 Le Mans from 1933, an elegant Bentley Mark VI from the 11s, a Riley RM and a Citroen XNUMX saloon converted into a cabriolet among others.

In the nerve center of the meeting, the large esplanade, they stood out for size and spectacularity algunos "Haigas" American people: a 1940 Chevrolet Master Deluxe, a stunning red '56 Chevy Bel Air, a 1955 Studebaker President, and most notably two huge, immaculate '59 Cadillacs, a Sedan de Ville and an Eldorado that were breathtaking.

In the rest of the parking lot were a pile of cars of all periods, categories, sizes and origins. It would have been desirable to have arranged them chronologically, but it is not essential or easy for the organizers either.

They stood out among others a 1936 Lanchester, a Delorean, a WWII Jeep Willys, a Matra Simca Bagheera, a Porsche 2 (911) Turbo, Several Mercedes S-Class from the 930s and 50s, BMWs from the 60s, a Renault 5 Turbo from competition, several Seats from the 70s, Renault 4/4, etc

Reading this chronicle, they will surely come to the same conclusion as us: the concentration was a success, both by number of participants and visitors, as well as by the quality of the exhibited units. In addition, if to all this we add the most important thing, the large stock of food, we can assure that the visit was worth it. We will do it again next year.
